Data Deletion Policy
Effective Date: May 2025 | Version 1.0
Your data belongs to you. This page explains exactly what data SponsorLink holds, how to remove it, and what happens on our end when you do. There's no runaround here, if you want your data deleted, we make that
straightforward.
This applies to all SponsorLink users, including athletes, content creators, and any account connected to a Meta platform (Facebook or Instagram).
1. WHAT DATA WE HOLD
Depending on how you use SponsorLink, we may hold some or all of the following:
- Your account details (name, email address, profile information)
- Social platform access tokens (used to connect your Facebook or Instagram account)
- Social analytics data pulled from connected accounts, follower counts, engagement metrics, audience summaries
- Sponsorship deal records, proposals, agreements, deliverables, and communications
- Payment and billing records
- Platform usage logs
Not all of this data is deleted on the same timeline. The section below explains what goes immediately, what takes up to 30 days, and what we're legally required to hold onto for longer.
2. HOW TO DISCONNECT A SOCIAL ACCOUNT
If you've linked Facebook or Instagram to SponsorLink and want to remove that connection, you can do it yourself from inside the app, no need to contact us.
Steps to disconnect:
1. Log in to your SponsorLink account
2. Go to Settings in the top-right menu
3. Select Connected Accounts
4. Find the platform you want to remove
(Facebook or Instagram)
5. Click Disconnect
6. Confirm when prompted
Once you disconnect:
- Your access token is revoked immediately
- We stop pulling any new data from that platform straight away
- Cached analytics data from that account is queued for deletion and removed within 30 days
You can also revoke SponsorLink's access directly from Facebook or Instagram. On Facebook: Settings > Security and Login > Apps and Websites. On Instagram: Settings > Apps and Websites. Revoking access there has the same effect, we lose the token and stop all data ingestion.
3. HOW TO REQUEST FULL ACCOUNT DELETION
If you want everything gone, your account, your profile, your analytics data, all of it, you have two ways to do this.
Option A, Delete through the app
1. Log in to SponsorLink
2. Go to Settings
3. Select Account
4. Scroll to the bottom and click Delete My Account
5. You'll be asked to confirm. Once you do, deletion begins immediately.
Option B, Email us
Send a deletion request to privacy@sponsorlink.com.au from the
email address registered to your account. Include your full name and let us know whether you want a partial deletion (e.g. just social data) or full account closure. We'll confirm receipt within 2 business days and complete the deletion within 30 days.
4. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A DELETION REQUEST IS PROCESSED
Here's the sequence of what happens on our end after you submit a deletion request, whether that's through the app or by email.
Step 1, Access tokens revoked
Any active connection between SponsorLink and your social platforms is cut immediately. This means we can no longer pull data from Facebook or Instagram on your behalf, even if a token hadn't expired yet.
Step 2, Ingestion stops
All scheduled data fetches tied to your account are cancelled. Nothing new comes in from the moment the request is confirmed.
Step 3, Analytics data removed from active systems
Your social analytics data, follower figures, engagement metrics, audience data, is removed from our live databases. This happens within 30 days of the request being confirmed.
Step 4, Profile and account data deleted
Your SponsorLink profile, account details, and any associated preferences or settings are permanently deleted. Your profile is removed from brand-facing discovery immediately upon request confirmation.
Step 5, Retained data purged where legally permitted
Some records have to be kept for a defined period under Australian law, specifically financial and contractual records, which we're required to hold for seven years. These are kept in restricted, secure storage and are never used for any other purpose. Everything else is purged in full.
5. DELETION TIMELINE AT A GLANCE
Access tokens revoked
Immediately on confirmation of request.
New data ingestion stopped
Immediately on confirmation of request.
Social analytics data removed
Within 30 days.
Profile and account data deleted
Within 30 days. Profile removed from discovery immediately.
Sponsorship deal records
Deleted within 30 days, except where needed for active legal or payment disputes.

6. PARTIAL DELETION, SOCIAL DATA ONLY
If you don't want to close your account entirely but do want us to remove your social analytics data, that's a separate option. You can either:
- Disconnect your social accounts through Settings > Connected Accounts (this stops ingestion and queues your cached data for deletion), or
- Email privacy@sponsorlink.com.au and ask specifically for social analytics data to be removed without closing your account.
We'll confirm when it's done.
7. IF YOU'VE ALREADY DELETED YOUR SOCIAL ACCOUNT
If you've deleted your Facebook or Instagram account directly and want to make sure SponsorLink no longer holds any data connected to it, email us at privacy@sponsorlink.com.au. Let us know which platform and the approximate date of deletion. We'll locate any associated data and remove it within 30 days.
8. CONFIRMATION AND FOLLOW-UP
When we process a deletion request, we'll send a confirmation email to the address on your account once it's done. If you requested deletion by email, we'll reply to that thread.
If you don't hear back within 5 business days of submitting a request, follow up at privacy@sponsorlink.com.au. We want to make sure nothing slips through.
9. CONTACT
For any data deletion requests or questions about what we hold:
